Welcome Letter to Parents
Dear First Grade Parents,
Welcome to first grade! I hope you had a nice summer. My name is Mrs. Goldner and I will be your child’s first grade teacher this year. I am looking forward to an exciting, productive year working with you and your child. Your child is about to embark on a wonderful and new learning adventure, and you can come along! With your help and support, I know that we will have a very successful school year.
Supplies
My supply list for first grade can be found on the Supply List Tab. If you need help finding any supplies on the list, please do not hesitate to reach out. I do have extra supplies in the classroom as well. If you purchased a school supply box through the PTO, it will be waiting for your child in the classroom on the first day. You will still need to purchase the pencil pouch listed and a black and white marble composition notebook, as those are not included in the box. Please do not send in any additional supplies. I will be giving the students folders, pencils, and erasers, so they are not needed from home.
Lunch and Snack
First graders will be having snack in the morning and lunch in the afternoon. Please make sure that your child’s name is on his/her lunch bag. If you are sending in lunch money, please make sure it is in an envelope or wallet with your child’s name on it. Snack time will be 10 minutes, so please send in a small, healthy, nut free snack with your child. Please pack your child’s snack separately so he/she knows which bag is for lunch and which is for snack.
Bus Numbers
Please be sure to review your child’s bus number with him/her before the first day of school. It can be found in Genesis. He or she needs to know what bus they are supposed to go home on at the end of the day. It will help to make dismissal much easier. Your child will need to memorize the bus number, so when it is called, he/she will be able to recognize it. I will send home a bus tag necklace with your child on the first day. Please send it back to school each day until your child has memorized his/her bus number. If your child will be attending the “After School Program” and will not be going home on the bus, please send in a note with your child on the first day so I am aware where your child goes at the end of the day.
Lastly, I will keep in touch with you all year long by sending a newsletter home at the end of each week, which will keep you updated as to what we are doing in the classroom and upcoming events. If you have any questions, concerns, or something to discuss, please feel free to email me at [email protected]. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Goldner
